BBYO Passport has partnered with Travel Insured International to provide a low-cost, Student Group travel insurance policy option specifically designed for teen travel. While travel insurance is optional, families should consider purchasing travel insurance in order to protect their investment and plan for the unexpected.
All benefits are subject to policy exclusions. Policies are only available for U.S. residents. If you are a resident of Canada and would like to purchase travel insurance, contact Jeff Barr at Travel Insurance Israel. If you are a resident of any other country, you can also contact Jeff for a stand-alone medical policy. You can contact Jeff via email at [email protected].
BBYO is not licensed or authorized to answer questions regarding your teen's travel insurance policy or options. Our Customer Service team is happy to answer general questions for our families, but when it comes to travel insurance, all questions regarding any insurance matters must go directly through our licensed travel insurance agent, Jeff Barr. He can be reached at [email protected]. Any family who reaches out to BBYO regarding travel insurance matters will be redirected back to Jeff. Please be aware that Jeff is based in Israel and his response time may be slightly delayed due to time zone differences.
The Standard + "Cancellation for Any Reason" (CFAR) policy must be purchased prior to final payment for all related non-refundable trip costs and is currently unavailable for New York residents. All policies are issued after the final payment is made; however, the policy is considered to have gone into effect once the premium payment is made to BBYO.
To purchase travel insurance, please log into your registration portal and fill out the form, titled “Traveler’s Insurance.”
Disclaimers & Notes:
- Travel cost means the cash/check/credit card amounts actually paid for the trip. Any funds not paid by the traveler (e.g., grants, voucher, scholarships, awards, fundraising, discounts, credits, frequent flyer rewards, miles or points applied (in part/in full) towards the cost of travel, etc.) are not considered out of pocket expenses to the traveler and therefore may not be insurable. Families who accept funds and use them towards their program balance are taking direct responsibility to repay those funds should a traveler not complete the program in whole if required by the funding source.
- If your travel is being extended beyond the days of the BBYO Passport scheduled experience, families need to notify Jeff Barr ([email protected]) at Travel Insured Israel to adjust as the coverage and price is only designed to cover the travel based on the dates we submit to the insurance company. Please note: If any trip length is more than 10 days of the actual BBYO trip that student would not be eligible for this student group policy.
- Insurance coverages are subject to the terms, limitations, and exclusions in the plan, including an exclusion for pre-existing conditions. Pre-existing conditions are waived when following the same rules required for purchasing the CFAR policy (1. The policy must be purchased prior to making the FINAL trip payment, and 2. The entire trip cost (INCLUDING AIRFARE PURCHASED PRIVATELY) for everything pre-paid must be insured). See the plan document for complete details.
- Insurance may be purchased until the day before the program begins. However, Optional Cancel for Any Reason Coverage** is available only if Travel Insured International is purchased prior to making final payment. This includes airfare purchased privately.
**Cancel for Any Reason coverage is up to 75% of the nonrefundable trip cost. CFAR is optional and available for purchase at an additional cost at the individual level. Trip cancellation must be 48 hours or more prior to your scheduled departure, and you must also have paid for the full cost for all non-refundable trip costs prior to your cancellation of your trip. This benefit is not available to residents of New York. Additional terms apply.
